Jaguar C-X75 concept car
Is Jaguar working on an electrified vehicle destined to be called the EV-Type?
We can’t be sure but the company has just registered the “EV-Type” trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as a similar registry in Europe. The registration was filed on October 30, 2014 for usage on motor land vehicles, among other applications.
Jaguar hasn’t confirmed plans for an electrified vehicle, such as a plug-in hybrid, extended-range electric or full battery-powered electric, however, the company did come close to launching a plug-in hybrid supercar based on itsC-X75 supercar concept from 2010. Although no longer slated for production, Jaguar has stated that the concept’s technology will be used for future models.
Jaguar also revealed an XJ plug-in hybrid prototype in 2012, and more recently the company, together with sister brand Land Rover, started a new research project looking to further develop hybrid and electric car technology.
